I had so much fun dressing my girls up for our Kids Exploring Fashion blog back in January that I decided to borrow Rayna’s adorable boys for this fall shoot. Rayna took these amazing photos but in all fairness her subjects are not all that hard to photograph. Not only are they adorable, they are sweet and witty and intelligent and did not complain once, they actually really loved dressing up and posing. Love it!!
All of these looks are comprised of fun pieces from Nordstrom, Zappos, The Gap and Children’s Place to add a little pop to the simple basics that are probably already in your kids drawers now. How awesome is that!? You probably already have jeans, shorts and a white t-shirt in your kids closet right now, so I suggest only buying the pieces you need. Using what you have add in a new pair of shoes ($45), a cool colorful/patterned tank, a versatile button down (plaid or denim) and an accessory or two you re-create yours son (or daughter’s) wardrobe by mix and matching.
I like doing these blogs because I feel like it really allows you to see how a simple accessory can change an outfit, you don’t have to buy your kid a whole new wardrobe but adding accessories like hats, beanies, glasses, etc. that they will not grow out of quickly is a great start. You know how amazing you feel when you get a new outfit or you get to wear your favorite outfit with a new twist? Well, kids get that same confidence when they feel good in what they’re wearing! So, while you can guide them it is so much fun to let them explore fashion and express themselves and see their confidence grow!
